In a bid to enhance the capability of frontline inspectors in handling public events, the Operations Wing of Kowloon West (KW) Region delivered two half-day workshops on public events for 37 junior inspectors on August 23 and 26.

Speaking at the workshops, KW Regional Commander Yu Tat-chung emphasised the important role of frontline commanding officers in dealing with public events, which had recently become more radical in nature. He hoped that the workshops could improve the skills and knowledge of frontline commanding officers in coping with challenges arising from public events.

Other speakers were Chief Inspector (CIP) of the Police Public Engagement Office (PPEO) Chiang Shui-ching, who spoke about PPEO's work and strategies to support frontline officers; and two veterans who are experienced in handling public events, Commander of Police Tactical Unit B Company Tsang Fan-kwok, and CIP (Operations) of KW Region Wong Ping-ping.

The participants responded that the workshops had enhanced their professional knowledge and skills for policing public events.
