Marine North Division (MNDIV) conducted a fire drill at Shuen Wan Typhoon Shelter on July 30 with Tai Po East Fire Station of the Fire Services Department (FSD). The drill aimed to enhance co-ordination between the Marine Police and the FSD in dealing with "Vessel On Fire" incidents.

The drill simulated a fishing vessel on fire and a person falling overboard. Firemen boarded a police launch to put out the fire while the Diving Unit of the FSD carried out an underwater search for the simulated victim. Over 40 Marine Police Officers and firemen participated in the event whilst members of the local fishing community were invited to observe the drill.

Assistant Divisional Commander (Operations) of MNDIV Chan Sze-man and Station Commander of Tai Po East Fire Station Mr Yeung Kong-yau praised the participants for their professionalism. They said the drill had enhanced collaboration and resilience of the officers in fire rescue operations and increased the community's fire prevention awareness.
