National Security Education Day cum Hong Kong Police Force 180^th Anniversary Police College Open Day

On 1^st July 2015, the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China was adopted at the 15^th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12^th National People's Congress, and 15^th April each year was designated as the National Security Education Day, which aims at raising public awareness of national security, creating a positive atmosphere of safeguarding national security and enhancing the capacity to fend off national security risks, deepening public understanding of the Constitution, the Basic Law and national security, and fostering a sense of national identity. Coincidentally, the year 2024 marks the 180^th anniversary of the Force, to commemorate this important milestone, “The National Security Education Day cum Hong Kong Police Force 180^th Anniversary - Police College Open Day” will be held at the School of Foundation Training, Hong Kong Police College (Aberdeen Campus) on 13^th April 2024 (Saturday), offering an opportunity for the public to have a better understanding of the importance of national security to the country, to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and to every Hong Kong citizen, and to perform the public’s concerted efforts in carrying out our civic duty and work together to safeguard national security. The event features a Grand Show, a Time Capsule Placement Ceremony together with different theme zones showcasing our unwavering dedication to serving Hong Kong with Duty, Honour, and Loyalty.

The highlight of the event is the Grand Shows, where you can watch not only the flag-raising ceremony, but also performances including but not limited to music show, driving performances, demonstration by police dogs, as well as counter-terrorism demonstrations by the Special Duties Unit, Counter Terrorism Response Unit, VIP Protection Unit and Unmanned Aircraft System. It is definitely a now or never opportunity you don’t wish to miss!

After the Grand Show, there will be a Time Capsule Placement Ceremony to memorise the 180^th anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Force, where memorable items will be placed inside the capsule, allowing everyone to witness the historical changes alongside the Force.

The Open Day will also feature an exhibition on national security, a VR film on the 180^th Anniversary of the Police Force, display of equipment of elite units as well as the Police Sports and Arts Clubs.

Apart from game booths where children can DIY handcrafts, they can also dress up in mini police uniforms and take photos of themselves ‘driving’ the mini police vehicles to ‘experience’ the work of a police officer.
