3R transformed rescue missions by employing a new composite digital map (R-Map) with accurate GPS locations of different rescue teams provided by R-Watch, as well as live stream video footage of rescue scenes from R-Cam. 3R has massively reduced the rescue coordination time and significantly increased the efficiency and effectiveness of rescue missions.

HKSOS is the most important outdoor safety app designed to save lives and speed up the response time of rescue services in life-critical missions. It is directly linked to the Emergency Call Centre and becomes your lifeline in an emergency. HKSOS generates unique SOS signal that can be picked up by Signal Radar used by rescuers even in extreme conditions. When SOS is triggered via the app, the Emergency Call Centre will be alerted and provided with your precise location information so that emergency teams can swiftly reach you for assistance.

To accurately detect life-saving signals, Hong Kong Police Force has co-invented Signal Radar with local technology company using patented technology that locates distant SOS signals in difficult terrains.

Signal Radar can be deployed on helicopters, drones, and ground rescue teams. Signal Radar can detect SOS signals from over a distance of 500m under densely covered forest canopy and in open sea without relying on mobile network signal coverage. Even under extreme situations, Signal Radar can still pass accurate GPS coordinates of the casualty to the rescue teams. Signal Radar uses innovative technology to help rescue teams locate and save lives in the most remote and challenging terrains.

The Hong Kong Police Force in collaboration with the local technology company has developed RescueAI which is is a smart rescue platform featuring AI algorithm designed for complex mountain rescue missions. The invented application predicts and projects the most accurate rescue zone on ‘R-Map’, which greatly reduces the time and improves the efficiency and effectiveness of rescue mission.

RescueAI integrates positioning and motion detection technologies, human mobility analytics and geospatial analysis technology. The two main innovative features includes: -

(a) location estimation and motion detection algorithm. RescueAI works even in mountainous terrain with sparse signals. The invention integrates the use of the GNSS, cellular network, wireless signal, and built-in sensors based location sources, using data and AI dual-driven model; and

(b) RescueAI’s algorithm predicts dynamic risks and plots rescue zone areas accurately for rescue teams to timely locate the casualty. Rescue AI revolutionise search and rescue missions by employing innovative technologies to help saving lives.

Advanced Mobile Location (AML) is a free-of-charge emergency location-based service available on smartphones. When a caller dials the local emergency telephone number i.e. 999 in Hong Kong, it sends the best available geolocation of the caller to the Public Safety Answering Point (currently three PSAPs in Hong Kong), making the location of the caller available to emergency call takers in real-time. AML improves the time taken by emergency call takers to verify the location of callers and can improve the time taken to dispatch an emergency response.

Hong Kong is the first Asian city with AML fully deployed on iOS and Android platforms.
