Cheung Chau Police Station opened on November 9, 1913, following a large-scale pirate attack on the outlying island in 1912. The building was listed as a Grade III Historic Building in 1988, re-listed as a Grade II Historic Building on December 18, 2009 and is the oldest government building in Hong Kong being used for its original purpose.

Cheung Chau Police Station has undergone a series of renovation works since 2001. With implementation of the "Customer Service Improvement Project", renovation works included the addition of a variety of new facilities designed to enhance operational efficiency and the welfare of officers.

The station celebrated its Centenary on November 9 when Marine Regional Commander Chiu Wai-yin officiated at a ceremony before a large gathering of guests, including Islands District Councillors, members of the District Fight Crime Committee and Cheung Chau Rural Committee, as well as officers who served in the station as far back as the 1950s.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Chiu noted the station's sterling services provided to the Cheung Chau community in the last 100 years and pledged to ensure that the level of service would continue into the future.

Police Museum is holding an exhibition entitled "Cheung Chau Police Station - Marking One Hundred Years 1913-2013". The exhibition reviews the development of the police station, and how it has contributed to the Cheung Chau Community. For enquiries, call 2849-7019.
