Under the Mainland Development Programme run by Police College, Superintendent Chan Hoi-kong from Store Management Division led a delegation of 30 officers, comprising four Chief Inspectors, 10 Senior Inspectors and Inspectors, three Sergeants and 12 Police Constables, to visit the Zhejiang Police College and attend a National Studies Course from April 8 to 18.

The course aims at acquainting the delegation members with the law enforcement and legal systems on the Maintain, social, legal, political and economic conditions, and the working environment of Public Security officers.

In visits to Hangzhou Police District and Jingqu Police Division, the delegation members gained an overview of Hangzhou's crime trend and investigation work. They were impressed with the state-of-the-art technology and equipment used by a Command and Control Centre, including communication systems and closed circuit television systems in public areas.

The delegation members also visited the Xihu Police Division, where they learned the local crime-fighting strategies and community policing, and had valuable discussions with their Mainland counterparts. Delegation members also visited the homes of local police officers to get a better idea of their living conditions.

For the delegation members, the National Studies Course was an eye-opening experience and succeeded in opening up more channels for co-operation in policing with Mainland police forces.

Commenting on the visit, Detective Sergeant Lai Kwok-yung said: "The course was packed with comprehensive programmes. We were able to observe the jobs of Mainland officers and appreciated the job differences between the Mainland and the Force. These would benefit our professionalism and investigation skills."

Meanwhile, the host units appreciated the image of the Force the delegation projected during the visits. Woman Police Officer Songge from Xihu Police Division commented: "From the delegation members, we not only observed their fine qualities, but also learned their spirit as police officers. These are in line with our four spirits of professionalism, responsibility, passion, and faith."
