With a view to enhancing protection of critical infrastructure and testing the contingency plan for International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS), Marine North Division (MNDIV) conducted a Joint ISPS Exercise at Dolphin Terminal, Tolo Channel, on January 28. About 70 representatives from MNDIV, the Maritime Emergency Response Team of Small Boat Division, Counter Terrorism Response Unit and the Security Department of Towngas Company took part in the exercise.

The exercise provided a valuable opportunity for MNDIV and the other parties to try out their action plans and identify areas for improvement. It also enhanced capability to respond to possible attacks and ensure good coordination amongst all parties. The exercise scenarios included handling of suspected explosive devises on a police operational barge, response to a hostage incident at an ISPS facility and handling a vessel with suspects on board.

The exercise was well received by the players and highly regarded by observers. A debriefing session was held after the exercise with constructive comments received.
