Some people have great difficulties in attaining their goals, but members of the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps (HKPVSC) have helped a lady suffering from Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy fulfill her dream - soaring into the sky.

Ah Yee is receiving long-term physiotherapy and her condition worsens as she gets older.  About a month later, she will undergo surgery to embed medical equipment in her body. This will render her no longer able to take part in any vigorous activities, dashing her dream of "flying in the sky like a bird".

Learning of Ah Yee's predicament, Police Public Relations Branch Police Constable Yuen Wai-kit, who is an experienced paragliding instructor, and more than 20 HKPVSC members came to Ah Yee's aid.

Paragliding enthusiasts have to reach the top of a mountain and wait for a fine weather condition. On the crucial day for Ah Yee, the Sunset Peak, which is 800 meters above sea level, was chosen for a trial flight.  As Ah Yee is wheelchair bound, the police volunteers had to carry her, together with the necessary equipment, to a take-off point on the peak. On a sweltering day, this was a tremendous challenge for the police volunteers.

One of the volunteers commented, "It is the first opportunity and also the last one for Ah Yee to ever experience paragliding. No matter how hard it is for us, it's a worthwhile effort to make her dream come true."

Ah Yee is very grateful for all the police volunteers have done for her.
