Led by Crime Wing Support Group Senior Superintendent Lee Wai-man, the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) organised a liaison gathering for around 60 representatives from the Hong Kong Joint Council of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped (HKJCPMH) on Police College's Aberdeen campus on December 19. The gathering aimed at generating more understanding and trust between police officers and mentally incapacitated persons (MIP).

FCSV laid on a series of fun sessions for promoting interaction and generating more understanding between officers and MIPs, including police dog demonstrations, tour of Police College campus, display of Robotcop, games, magic show and balloon craft workshop run by police volunteers. Through interaction, police volunteers and the MIPs came to understand each other better and fostered mutual trust. In return for FCSV's efforts, the HKJCPMH presented souvenirs for offering an opportunity for its members to get a better idea of police work.

On top of external liaison, FCSV also seeks to enhance internal training in handling MIPs. A seminar has been scheduled for January 26 with psychiatrists, parents of the mentally handicapped and mentally disordered and police clinical psychologist conducting sharing sessions on knowledge and experience. More details will be available on Force Noticeboard.

Poster publicity

Meanwhile, in a bid to promote public awareness of sexual assaults, FCSV produced a series of anti-sexual assault posters during Christmas time, including those titled "Don't Trust People in the Cyber World", "Stay Alert While Drinking" and "Protect Yourself, Prevent Sexual Violence", which were distributed to various places such as schools, community centres, youth centres and entertainment premises. Central District and the Lan Kwai Fong Association also put up the posters in the bar areas in Lan Kwai Fong in order to get maximum publicity.
