In support of a charity event "Hong Kong Police College Shave", 10 police officers shaved their heads at the Aberdeen campus on May 6 and have raised over $270,000 so far for children cancer patients.

Jointly organised by the Police College and St. Baldrick's Foundation, the event aimed to raise fund for the Children's Cancer Foundation to help cancer research. A group of recovering cancer children and their families, the Southern District Fight Crime Committee and some Ocean Park staff had a joyful afternoon at the event. They were delighted to watch a police dog demonstration before the head shaving took place. They also took photos with police vehicles and motorbikes, as arranged by the Transport Branch.

The 10 police officers who shaved their heads were Senior Superintendent of the School of Foundation Training Martin Cadman, Superintendent Simon Southgate, Superintendent Paul Bailey, Chief Inspector Anthony Lothian, Chief Inspector Tang Kwok-hung, and five probationary inspectors, Cheng Nga-ching, Arnold Chan, Chan Ka-chun, Lam Kwan-lok and Li Man-yau. Two barbers, Ms Wong and Mr Lo from the College, gave their helping hand.

When presenting a big cheque to the Vice-chairman of the Children's Cancer Foundation, Mr Edward Yu, the Director of the Police College, Lau Chi-wai, thanked all shavees and the support of community partners, other officers and Police College staff, making it a second successful year for the event.
