In a bid to enhance liaison with Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) communities, Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) invited officers from the Home Affairs Department, Immigration Department and Customs and Excise Department to attend a liaison meeting with 15 NEC leaders and representatives of five non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on July 21.


The meeting was presided by YTDIST Commander Kwok Pak-chung. Chief Inspector (Crime) of YTDIST Swalikh Mohammed, Chief Immigration Officer (Investigation) of the Immigration Department Mr Ng Cheuk-yiu, and Inspector of Intellectual Property Investigation Group of the Customs and Excise Department    Mr Lam Siu-fung, spoke respectively on crime figures, immigration matters and intellectual property issues in the district.


Afterwards, Assistant Commander (Administration) of YTDIST Mohammad Munir Khan, Commander of Tsim Sha Tsui Division Tam Pik-ling and Commander of Yaumatei Division Ma Wai-hing briefed the attendees on activities for engaging the NEC communities.


On a separate occasion on July 13, Mr Khan, Ms Tam, Mr Ma and officers of the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon West Region, handed out fliers to NEC shops to promote the messages of crime prevention and racial harmony, together with NEC leaders, members of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee, representatives of NGOs and local dignitaries.
