Superintendent (SP) Chan Kam-kuk of the Liaison Bureau led a Force delegation comprising Chief Inspector Lam Cheuk-ho and Senior Inspector Yau Chong-tai to attend the INTERPOL's 15th Asia and South Pacific cum 11th Middle East and North Africa Contact Officers' Meeting in Seoul from September 6 to 8.


A total of 61 officers from 23 jurisdictions took part in the meeting. Representatives from the INTERPOL National Central Bureaux (NCB) of the respective region meet annually to exchange information, share experience, discuss issues concerning cross-jurisdictional co-operation as well as strengthen liaison.


At the meeting, Mr Lam and Mr Yau made a presentation on the topics of Hong Kong Police's experience in combating telephone deception and strategies in promoting the use of INTERPOL Integrated Tools and Services respectively.


SP Kung Hing-fun who has been seconded to INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore also attended the meeting as a co-ordinator, and delivered a talk on the role of NCB Co-ordination for Asia and South Pacific. Furthermore, SP Lui Che-ho who has been seconded to the General Secretariat of INTERPOL in Lyon gave a speech on INTERPOL's action against cross-jurisdictional financial fraud.


Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Chairman of the meeting cum Head of Co-ordination for Asia and South Pacific, INTERPOL, Mr Jiang Shui expressed his gratitude to the Force and other participants who had contributed to the success of the meeting. He asserted that the close ties among members were helpful in bolstering their capacity building and professional development.
