With an aim to exploring ways to facilitate frontline crime officers in intelligence gathering, the Liaison Bureau (LB) rolled out a six-month project to promote the use of the INTERPOL's I-24/7 Global Police Communication System and its affiliated Integrated Tools and Services from the headquarters level to the regional level.

The three-phase project covered the holding of Awareness Briefings for crime officers in all six regions, the provision of training for officers of the Regional Intelligence Units (RIUs), and the installation of designated terminals in RIUs so as to have a direct access to the INTERPOL database to assist in intelligence gathering and investigation.

So far the LB had organised Awareness Briefings for crime officers of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon East, Kowloon West and Marine Regions. The briefings for New Territories North and New Territories South Regions will be held on October 13 and 20 respectively. The crime officers concerned are welcome to participate in the briefings.
