The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB), in partnership with the Hong Kong Alumni Association of the Southern Medical University (the Association), provided free Chinese medical consultation services cum anti-crime talks to Senior Police Call (SPC) members in 20 Police Districts for the first time to enhance their awareness of health care and crime prevention. It is estimated that over 3 000 SPC members would benefit from the programme.

To mark the launch of the programme, 250 SPC members from Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST), SPC Central Advisory Board (CAB) members, and Honorary Presidents from 20 Districts attended the Crime Prevention and Stay Health Kick-off Ceremony, which was jointly organised by PPRB and SSPODIST on January 15. Officiating at the ceremony included Chairman of SPC CAB Mr Yu Tat-chung, Chief Superintendent of PPRB Fok Lok-sang, Acting SSPODIST Commander Mak Lau Wai-mun, Chairman of the Association Dr Woo Wing-cheung and Chairman of SPC Central Finance Committee Mr Wu Chor-nam.

Mr Yu gave special thanks to Dr Woo for giving health talks personally to SPC members and mobilising over 30 registered Chinese medicine practitioners to provide free medical consultation services for SPC members. In addition, two SPC ambassadors delivered a talk about wealth management and anti-investment scams to SPC members. Similar talks would be held in other Districts. With the approach of the Lunar New Year, officers from the Hong Kong Police Painting and Calligraphy Club wrote fai chuns to the SPC members and wished them a happy Chinese New Year.
