Police Tactical Unit C Company (PTU C COY) of New Territories North (NTN) Region conducted the first phase of a regional exercise named FIERCEWHEEL to enhance co-ordination of various formations in policing public events and handling major incidents in the region.

Prior to this exercise, PTU C COY held two Command Post Workshops in January to strengthen the practical skills of frontline officers and collaboration of the District Operations Rooms (DORs) and the command post. Then officers from the Operations, Crime, Traffic and Administration Wings of NTN Region, together with DORs of Tai Po, Yuen Long, Tuen Mun and Border Districts and Auxiliary Command Post, took part in a tabletop exercise on February 14 to test their respective command facilities in handling a series of public events and major incidents during a simulated Legislative Council Election.

Meanwhile, PTU E Company Commander (Hong Kong Island) Wong Chi-wing, Superintendent of Emergency Unit (SP EU) of New Territories South Choy Wai-sum, SP EU NTN Lai Kin-pui and PTU Company Commander (Public Order Events 1) Law Shu-pui were invited to assess the operation of the DORs. Senior Superintendent (Implementation Team) of the Operations Wing Martin Cadman and Senior Superintendent (Operations) NTN David Jordan also acted as observers and gave valuable feedback to the participants. To further consolidate officers' professional competence, the second phase of Exercise FIERCEWHEEL was held in mid-March.
