The Wanchai Sport Ground was packed with athletes from different formations of the Force for the Police Athletic Championships on April 18. The Police Athletic Club (PAC) was delighted to have Commissioner Lo Wai-chung and some senior officers cheering on the contestants and presenting trophies to the winners.


This year, two new records were set by Inspector Ng Ka-lee in Javelin (Women) and Discus (Women) with a remarkable result of 34.29 metres and 29.68 metres respectively.


In individual events, both Police Constable (PC) Man Ho-chiu of the Counter Terrorism Response Unit and PC Yeung Chi-wing of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) captured the title of the Victor Ludorum while Sergeant Li Chak-ming of PTU retained the title of the Carpe Diem Bowl for the second year. Senior Inspector Lai Hiu-ming of Kowloon City District, who secured the championship of Women's 100 metres and 200 metres and Long Jump, was the winner of the Victrix Ludorum.


For the 4x100 metres Major Formation Promotion Relay, the Operations Wing won the championship, while the first and second runners-up went to Kowloon West and Hong Kong Island Regions respectively. The Headquarters (HQ) of New Territories North Region secured the title of Other Formations Championship whereas PTU HQ captured the title of Specialist/Training Units Championship.


For the first time, Facebook made a live broadcast of several popular events, including Men's 100 metres Final, Women's 100 metres Final and 4x100 metres Major Formation Challenge Relay.


PAC Chairman Mr Kwok Ho-fai thanked all helpers from the Police Football Referee Club, Physical Training Instructors from the Police College and PTU, Auxiliary Medical Service and individual volunteers for their assistance for the events.
