To raise marine practitioners' awareness of marine safety, a Sea Safety & Vessel Security Seminar and a Police Launch 35 (PL 35) Re-commissioning Ceremony were jointly organised by Marine Outer Waters District (MOWDIST) and Marine North Division (MNDIV) on May 18.

PL 35 served Marine Police from 1972 to 1997 and was deployed to carry out patrol mainly at typhoon shelters. Recognising the significance of PL 35 as the oldest police vessel, she was therefore moved to the Marine Police Base in Ma Liu Shui for display. Acting Regional Commander of Marine Tsui Wai-hung officiated at the re-commissioning ceremony.

On the other hand, MNDIV organised a seminar on sea safety and vessel security for local fishermen's associations and boat clubs during the fishing moratorium to explore the causes of marine accidents and to enhance the safety of navigation and rock fishing. Officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Marine Police briefed the participants on the significance of vessel security and anti-theft equipment as well as tips to prevent telephone deception.
