Regional Commander of Marine Lam Hiu-tong led a delegation of Marine Police officers to attend the fifth International Maritime Security Conference and IMDEX Asia 2017 in Singapore from May 15 to 18. They took the occasions to forge closer ties with navy chiefs and coast guard directors-general from around the world and share their experience in facing mutual maritime law enforcement challenges.

IMDEX Asia 2017, Asia-Pacific's flagship maritime defence exhibition, offered an opportunity for the Force delegates to view the latest developments in maritime security technology. The delegation also attended the Republic of Singapore Navy's 50th Anniversary International Maritime Review, which served to mark the golden jubilee of the founding of the navy with more than 30 warships from 20 countries participating in the event.

Riding on this opportunity, the delegation visited the Singapore Police Force's Police Coast Guard Headquarters on Pulau Brani. Ms Lam was pleased to meet the Commander of the Police Coast Guard, Mr Hsu Sin Yun, for a frank and open discussion on issues of mutual concern, thereby enhancing the longstanding and close relationship between both Forces. The delegation also toured the training facilities of the Coast Guard before boarding two types of police vessels, including the recently commissioned 2nd Generation PK-Class High Speed Interceptors, to travel across the waters of Singapore.
