Members of the Police Dragon Boat Club and Operation Breakthrough as well as officers of Marine Outer Waters District (MOWDIST) and Marine North Division organised a dragon boat activity with a renowned dragon boat club from the United Kingdom (UK), Purple Warriors, on May 31 and June 1.

The Purple Warriors is composed of serving and retired members of the British Army, Navy and Air Force who have some form of disability or impairment as a result of their service. The founders are inspired to help them take on a new challenge of dragon boating. This ties in with the vision of the Operation Breakthrough, which uses sports as a means to coach young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to fight crime. During the two-day event, both sides shared their experience and built friendship.

Meanwhile, over 20 officers of MOWDIST participated in the Tap Mun Dragon Boat Competition 2017 on May 30. They enjoyed taking part in the exciting match with MOWDIST Commander Bradley Wright as one of the honourable guests.

On the other hand, 30 officers from Western District (WDIST) joined Aberdeen Dragon Boat Race 2017, which was also held on May 30. WDIST Deputy Commander Sin Chi-sing attended the event to present prizes to the winning teams. After a fierce competition, WDIST Dragon Boat Team won the second runner-up title of the Kwoon Chung Cup Group Invitation Race.
