Over 300 senior police officers, Senior Police Call Central Advisory Board (SPC CAB) members, SPC Honorary Presidents, Police Community Relations Office staff and SPC members attended the first Annual General Meeting and Award Presentation Ceremony of the SPC at the Police Headquarters on June 3.


After Chairperson of the SPC CAB Mr Yu Tat-chung kicked off the ceremony, Superintendent (Community Relations) of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) Ng Chui-ting gave an account of the SPC activities in 2016, and Chief Superintendent of the PPRB Fok Lok-sang outlined the SPC development plan for 2017. Afterwards, certificates of appreciation were presented to SPC members and captains to commend their contribution and support to the SPC Scheme last year.


To show support to the SPC, Commissioner Lo Wai-chung and other senior police officers joined a luncheon with SPC members after the ceremony. Furthermore, three artistes, namely Ms Sit Ka-yin, Mr Woo Fung and Mr Au Sui-keung, were appointed respectively as the SPC Community Care Ambassador, Fight Crime Ambassador and Prevent Crime Ambassador. They will help promote SPC activities as well as disseminate fight crime and road safety messages to the elderly this year.


In addition, certificates of appreciation were presented to SPC Wealth Management Anti-investment Scam Ambassadors and representatives of SPC partners in recognition of their assistance in arranging a variety of fight crime activities. Besides, winners of the SPC Leaflet Design Competition were awarded at the luncheon to encourage SPC members to continue their support for the SPC Scheme.


Established in 2014, the SPC Scheme carries the following objectives: to enhance communication with the elderly through proactive engagement; to promote crime prevention by developing fight crime partnership with the elderly; to promote personal safety to the elderly and enhance their road safety awareness; and to provide a platform for the elderly to participate in meaningful activities and to serve the community. The SPC has been committed to maintaining good relations with their stakeholders of the community through a partnership approach. They will continue to assist the Force to fight crime through multi-agency co-operation.
