Two cadet pilots from the Government Flying Service (GFS), Ms Queena Chan and Mr Billy Cheung, took part in the first six weeks of training with the Force's probationary inspectors (PIs) at the Police College in August. The attachment programme aimed to build up their discipline, confidence, endurance and leadership.

In addition to rigorous physical training, foot drill practice and outdoor personal development and adventure training, the two cadet pilots participated as observers in a leadership exercise and Exercise 48. They learned about basic leadership skills, situation assessment, communication skills and deployment of resources, which are beneficial to their career development. At the end of the training, they gave a briefing for PIs about aviation knowledge and the scope of services of the GFS, which broadened the horizons of the PIs and enabled them to understand the difficulties and challenges of being a pilot.

Ms Chan concluded that the attachment had developed her sense of discipline and team spirit while Mr Cheung thanked the Police College for designing such a challenging training programme to help them become better pilots.
