The Police College has recently endeavoured to increase the opportunities for junior police officers to receive overseas development training (ODT). Arrangements were made for the first batch of Police Constables (PCs), Lam Hin-sung and Wong Sze-ching, to attend an ODT Programme on "Frontline: Developing Future Leaders" at the Australian Institute of Police Management from October 16 to 20.

Joining with 22 trainees from various Australian law enforcement agencies in a one-week residential course, the two PCs took part in thematic lectures and group discussions on contemporary frontline policing as well as leadership and management skills. They exchanged views with other trainees on various policing strategies under the ever-changing policing and social context.

Both PCs reckoned that the training experience was highly valuable. They have learned to analyse the challenges and opportunities under different circumstances and apply the skills they have learned accordingly. The course also provided an effective platform for them to build network with Australian officers and promote the professional image of the Hong Kong Police Force.
