To enhance public awareness of attentive driving and road safety, Traffic Headquarters of New Territories North (NTN) and the MTR Corporation Limited jointly launched an Attentive Driving Kick-off Ceremony cum Light Rail and MTR Bus Road Safety Campaign at Siu Hong West Rail Station on November 5.


Officiating at the ceremony included NTN Regional Commander Kwok Ho-fai, Chairlady of the Road Safety Campaign Committee Ms Ma Ka-wai, Head of Operating - West Region of the MTR Corporation Mr Cheung Chi-keung, Regional Commander of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (New Territories North Region) Mr Lai Tin-cheung, Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee (TTC) of Tuen Mun District Council Mr So Shiu-shing, Chairman of TTC of Yuen Long District Council Mr Ching Chan-ming and representatives of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Transport Department and Tuen Mun District Office.


The organisers and performers encouraged over 1 000 spectators to bring home the messages of driving attentively and road safety. The event featured a variety of performances, such as ballet, a magic show, a drama by Senior Police Call members, and performances by singers and artistes. Ms Ma took the opportunity to appoint two artistes, Mr Jerry Lamb and Ms Lily Hong, as Road Safety Ambassadors.
