To ensure that Kowloon East (KE) Region maintains a high level of alert on counter terrorism (CT), the Operations Wing of KE organised an annual exercise, codenamed "AIMHIGH", on December 1 at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Headquarters. The participants came from the Emergency Unit (EU) KE, Police Tactical Unit (PTU) KE, Counter Terrorism Response Unit (CTRU) and the Ambulance Command of Fire Services Department.

The exercise simulated a terrorist attack in an opening ceremony of a multinational corporation, with several terrorists lurking into the venue and attacking people thereat with firearms and other weapons. EU KE and CTRU promptly arrived at the site to rescue the injured with the support of the Ambulance Command. PTU KE also operated the Affected Person Processing Unit to take care of others affected by the incident.

Acting Regional Commander KE Cheung Ching presided over the exercise whilst officers from the Special Duty Unit and other KE Formations act as observers. They commented that the exercise had consolidated frontline officers' professional capabilities and also helped strengthen communication between the Force and the Ambulance Command when handling incidents.
