The Kowloon East (KE) Region Community Day 2017 took place at KE Operational Base on December 2, bringing together over 1 800 members from a cross-section of society, including local community partners, government officials, teachers, students, parents, elders and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC).

Amongst the officiating guests were Chairmen of District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees in KE Region, as well as Honorary Presidents of the KE Happy Teen Committee.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, KE Regional Commander Ho Yuen-ha said, "We value our connection and partnership with the community, and the Community Day is an avenue for the public to learn more about our policing work as well as our officers.

"With Christmas and New Year around the corner, it's time for us to make collective efforts to enhance the security of premises and personal belongings." She also thanked the KE Happy Teen Committee for making this event more festive.

In a carnival setting, the Community Day provided a dynamic and interactive experience for the community, especially the younger generation. The participants were enthralled by the spectacular police dog demonstrations and fascinated by a showcase of police vehicles and equipment. They played excitedly at the game booths to test their anti-crime knowledge. The Police Band and student singers also enlivened the day with music performances. A highlight of the day was a mini racetrack set up by Traffic KE for children to dress up in traffic police uniform and drive a mini police motorcycle to experience what it is like to be a traffic police officer.

It was a cheerful and inspiring afternoon, boosting the community spirit of the participants. The event had also achieved the objectives of the KE Happy Teen Committee - to sprinkle happiness and positive energy around the Region, and to deepen police-community partnership.
