A 25-strong delegation attended the 26th Guangdong Police College Study Programme in Guangzhou between December 4 and 9 to gain a better understanding about China's national situation as well as the legal systems and policing work of the Mainland.

Led by Superintendent Chan Siu-ming, the delegation comprised a chief inspector, five senior inspectors, four sergeants and 14 police constables. The curriculum of the programme covered China's situation, Belt and Road Initiative, Mainland's public security authorities and policing mechanism, a comparison of the criminal justice system between the Mainland and Hong Kong, investigation system in Mainland China, crime investigation in Guangdong Province and policing co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the delegates also visited the Forensic Science Centre of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, Command Centre of Nanhai District under Foshan Public Security Bureau and Dali Police Station. The visit, which was arranged by the Hong Kong Police College, was indeed an eye-opening experience for the delegates in understanding the Mainland's policing mechanism as well as its future development and challenges.
