Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chiu Wai-yin, together with Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Ms Joyce Tam and Police Civil Secretary Mr Leung Ho-yin, met representatives of seven civilian staff associations at a lunch gathering on March 13.

Attending the gathering were representatives from the Association of Police Translators, the Association of Police Communications Officers, the Hong Kong Traffic Wardens Union, HKSAR Government Traffic Wardens General Union, Hong Kong Police Force Telecommunications Technical Staff Union, Hong Kong Police Force Model Scale 1 Staff Association and Hong Kong Police Force Civilian Officers' Union. They exchanged views with the Force management on matters of concern to their members, and shared work challenges and pleasure.

Speaking at the gathering, Ms Chiu said that the law and order situation in Hong Kong continued to improve in 2017 and the overall crime figure was the lowest since 1975. The Force also conducted smoothly a number of major policing operations relating to the election of the Chief Executive, the celebration events for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR and the visit to Hong Kong by President Xi Jinping. These accomplishments were attributable to the dedication and professionalism of all Force members including civilian staff. She praised both frontline and the supporting civilian staff for their staunch support.

Ms Chiu also thanked the civilian staff associations for serving as an effective channel of communication between civilian staff and the Force management. She hoped that both sides would maintain a close dialogue so that all Force members would be united as one to serve Hong Kong.
