Three hundred people, including regular and auxiliary police officers as well as sports elites, performed one-arm push ups together in one minute, setting a record for the "Most people performing one-arm push ups" in the Guinness World Records on April 7.

The "One-Arm Push Up Challenge" was co-organised by the Police Public Relations Branch and the Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA) for the first time to promote the messages of caring for animals and respecting for life as well as to raise funds for abandoned and disabled animals. Upon the launching of the challenge on January 28, the Force mounted a 10-week publicity campaign on online platforms to encourage the public to do one-arm push ups to experience the hardship of disabled animals for a charity cause.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the challenge on April 7, Director of Operations Tang Ping-keung expressed gratitude to various sectors of the community, including sports elites, artistes, community leaders and other members of the public. With their participation and support, the event raised over $1 million for the SAA.

Mr Tang appointed artiste Mr Kwok Fu-shing as "Ambassador of Animal Watch Scheme". Mr Kwok appealed to the public to think seriously before keeping pets. He urged pet owners to be responsible and not to abandon animals lightly.

Other officiating guests included SAA Founder Ms El Chan, Commandant of Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force Yang Joe-tsi, Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee, Hong Kong deputy to the National People's Congress Ms Kwong Mei-wan, National gold medallist in gymnastics in Olympics Mr Li Xiaopeng, Associate Professor of Department of Physical Education of Hong Kong Baptist University Dr Louie Hung-tak and artistes Ms Jessica Hester Hsuan and Ms Kong Mei-yee.
