Representatives of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee, Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association and a money exchange shop presented a silver plate, pennants and a certificate of appreciation to officers from the Uniform Branch and District Crime Squad (DCS) of Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) and the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) on March 14 in recognition of their professionalism, gallantry and thorough evidence collection in handling a robbery case.

On February 9, five employees of the shop were carrying 450 million Japanese yen in cash to a bank. They were robbed by armed Southeast Asian gangsters in Tsim Sha Tsui. EU KW officers intercepted the gangsters' vehicle on Lai Chi Kok Bridge, with three of the robbers arrested and all the money recovered in an operation codenamed EXIGENT. Officers from DCS 3 YTDIST conducted follow-up investigation. On February 21, they arrested three other male suspects, one of whom was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice. Thus, the crime syndicate was dismantled.
