Chief Superintendent Chan Wing-on led officers of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) to publicise the Cyber Security Campaign outside the Golden Computer Arcade in Sham Shui Po and Wan Chai Computer Centre on April 23. Together with Senior Police Call members from Sham Shui Po District and Wanchai District, the officers distributed leaflets and souvenirs to members of the public to raise their awareness of cyber security and botnet threats.

The year-long campaign has attracted the support of five leading anti-virus solution providers and a number of public and private organisations. The anti-virus solution providers have provided free malware cleaning and removal tools for the public to clean their infected computers.

The Police rolled out a series of publicity and education activities with the aim of reducing significantly the number of botnet-infected computers and to curtail cyber threats against critical infrastructures, organisations and society.
