The Police Licensing Office (PLO) held a knowledge-sharing session at the Police Headquarters on May 24 with the aim of strengthening officers' professional knowledge and ability in handling appeals about public events (POE). Over 80 officers from different units attended the session.

Chief Superintendent Tse Kwok-wai and Senior Superintendent Yu Hoi-kwan shared with the attendees their experience as well as the Police's justifications in handling two POE appeals in 2017. Senior Government Counsels from the Department of Justice Mr Suen Sze-yick and Ms Cheung Yue-kwan explained the relevant legal principles and considerations. In addition, Senior Inspector Chang Wing-yan of Public Order Event Support Section gave an analysis of and statistics on POE appeals.
