The 24th meeting of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Tripartite Heads of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was held in Macao on May 31 with the aim of strengthening information exchange and co-operation.

Led by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing, representatives of the Hong Kong Police Force met with the delegations respectively headed by Director of Criminal Investigation Department of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GD PSD) Mr Zhang Rui, and Commissioner-General of Macao Unitary Police Service Mr Ma Io-kun.

The tripartite delegates reviewed the results of co-operation last year and mapped out the way forward, focusing on cross-boundary crime, intelligence exchange and criminal investigation training.

The Force delegation comprised Director of Crime and Security Li Chi-hang, and five Bureau heads of Crime Wing. The Mainland delegates came from GD PSD, Shenzhen and Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureaux, while the Macao members were from Macao Unitary Police Service, Judiciary Police and Public Security Police. Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), and the respective Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao.

Mr Lau expressed gratitude to the MPS, the Police Liaison Departments of LOCPG, the Guangdong public security authorities and Macao police authorities for their tremendous support in crime investigation last year. He hoped that the three police authorities would continue to strengthen intelligence exchange in combating cross-boundary crime.
