Marine Region conducted an exercise, codenamed "WEBTWISTER", on June 19. The exercise aimed to test frontline officers' capabilities in dealing with an emergency incident at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, which is a facility under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. Other participants were officers of the Counter Terrorism Response Unit (CTRU).

The exercise simulated four suspects approaching the terminal by a speedboat with two of them, carrying firearms, going ashore and shooting some security officers. The Marine Regional Command and Control Centre immediately deployed officers from Marine Harbour Division and Small Boat Division to intercept the speedboat and assist CTRU officers to subdue and arrest the attackers.

The exercise has effectively enhanced communication of police units and security staff of the port facility, and also sharpened officers' skills in tackling similar ISPS incidents.
