President of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Mr Andrew Leung took the salute as Reviewing Officer at the passing-out parade of 48 probationary inspectors (PIs) and 275 recruit police constables (RPCs) in the Police College on June 23.

Speaking at the parade, Mr Leung said police officers carry out the mission and duties of fighting crime, upholding the rule of law and protecting the life and property of citizens. As officers come into contact with people from all walks of life in the course of discharging duties, they may inevitably clash with some members of the public. As long as the graduates act in accordance with the law, uphold the values of the Force, and deal with people fairly, impartially and compassionately, they would win public trust and bolster public confidence in the Force, Mr Leung added.

He reminded the graduates to be dedicated to serving the community, and do their utmost to fulfill their duties. At the same time, they should not forget the passion of joining the Force, nor yield to difficulties.

He said although the work of serving the community and upholding the rule of law may be full of challenges, he believed that all graduates are determined to live up to the Force's motto of "We Serve with Pride and Care".
