With the launching of the new Technology Crime Training Suite at the Detective Training Centre (DTC) on June 8, the first enhanced training module was delivered to a group of junior police officers of the Standard Criminal Investigation Course and members of the Technology Crime Initial Response Cadre.

This marked the concerted efforts of the Information Systems Wing, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) and DTC to strengthen the professional capabilities of officers in combating cyber crime. Further funding has been approved to set up more training suites at DTC to provide hands-on learning opportunities for trainees.

The enhanced training module is scenario-based and practical, focusing on the prevalent technology crimes such as fake websites, fraudulent emails and online shopping frauds. The principal instructors of the module are Chief Inspector Ip Wai-kin of DTC and Inspector Lee Chi-yuen of CSTCB, both of whom are INTERPOL certified trainers on information technology crime investigation.

The trainees of the first enhanced training module responded that the curriculum was useful and has boosted their capabilities and confidence in criminal investigation and meeting the rising challenges of technology crimes.
