The Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) held a workshop on investigation of trafficking in persons (TIP) on June 11, with the participation of 40 supervisors of the Police dedicated investigation teams and Chief Inspectors from Regional / District crime units.

Representatives from the Department of Justice (DoJ), the Immigration Department, the Customs and Excise Department and the Labour Department were invited to share their investigation and prosecution experience with the crime officers. Chief Superintendent of OCTB Man Tat-shing thanked all guest speakers for their sharing. He encouraged the crime officers to learn from the experience of other departments in handling TIP cases.

In response to the "Action Plan to Tackle Trafficking in Persons and to Enhance Protection of Foreign Domestic Helpers in Hong Kong" issued by the Hong Kong Government in March, the relevant law enforcement agencies have to appoint dedicated teams or officers to handle cases relating to TIP and exploitation of foreign domestic helpers. Thus, the Force has appointed a Regional Crime Unit in each of the six Regions as its dedicated investigation teams while OCTB would continue to serve as a policy co-ordinator in the Force and the dedicated investigation team at the headquarters level.
