Thirteen members of the Police Negotiation Cadre (PNC) joined a training exercise at Castle Peak Bay Fire Station on May 30 with the High Angle Rescue Team (HART) of the Fire Services Department (FSD). The training aimed to enhance their co-ordination and resilience in performing rescue at height.

In addition to the mutual sharing of principles and skills in crisis negotiation and high-angle rescue, the training covered an exercise to simulate the rescue of a person who threatened to jump off a flyover on Tuen Mun River Channel.

Officer-in-charge of HART Mr Li Wai-ming said the complexity of suicide attempts and self-barricaded incidents in Hong Kong required Police and FSD officers to resolve crisis together more frequently. Commanding Officer of PNC Wong Kwong-hing expressed gratitude to FSD for offering the training opportunity, adding that both PNC and HART officers have honed their skills in negotiation and high-angle rescue.
