The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) hosted the second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Economic Crime Investigation Conference at the Police Headquarters on August 2 and 3. Since 2017, the conference has been hosted by the CCB, the Economic Crime Investigation Bureau of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (ECIB GDPSD) and the Macao Judiciary Police (MJP) by turns.

This year, the conference was presided over by Chief Superintendent of CCB Tsang Ching-fo. The Guangdong and Macao delegates attended the conference under the leadership of Director of ECIB GDPSD Mr Huang Shouying and Deputy Director of MJP Mr Chan Kin-hong respectively.

The three parties discussed various issues, including the tripartite economic crime intelligence exchange mechanism, strategies for combating cross-boundary frauds, securities crimes, counterfeit banknotes and payment cards, as well as the operation and performance of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre of the CCB.

In the light of the rising trend of cross-boundary deceptions, investment frauds and securities crimes, the heads of the three parties talked about the economic crime situation in their respective jurisdictions, and spoke on their experience in and challenges of investigation. Given the closer economic integration among the three places, the attendees agreed to enhance collaboration, especially in curbing cross-boundary deceptions and securities crimes of a serious nature.
