The Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) of Crime Wing Support Group organised the second "Inter-departmental Liaison Event on One-Stop Service" on July 20 to enhance protection of victims of sexual violence.

The event attracted the attendance of over 80 participants from various government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Apart from frontline police officers, representatives from the Psychological Services Group (PSG) of the Force, the Social Welfare Department (SWD), the Hospital Authority, the Forensic Pathology Service of the Department of Health, the CEASE Crisis Centre and RainLily also attended the event.

Speaking at the event, Chief Superintendent of Crime Wing Support Group Yau Siu-kei thanked the stakeholders for their efforts in strengthening the protection of sexual violence victims. He stressed that the "one-stop" service model has been implemented to facilitate co-ordination between relevant government departments and NGOs in enhancing services for sexual violence victims.

In the first session of the event, Officer-in-charge of District Intelligence Section of Kowloon City District Pang Ngai-hung explained police procedures in handling sexual violence cases. Then Clinical Psychologist of PSG Ms Ho Wing-sze gave advice on ways to handle sexual violence victims. The second session was a sharing by a sexual violence victim and a victim's family member. This was followed by a group discussion on the good practices in handling sexual violence victims. Lastly, Centre-in-charge of RainLily Ms Ng Wing-lam shared their procedures and experience in handling sexual violence victims.

Under the "one-stop" service model introduced by the SWD in 2007, police officers, whenever practicable, will arrange a sexual violence victim to receive medical treatment and forensic examination and give statement in the same public hospital to reduce travelling time and minimise the need for the victim to repeat his/her unpleasant experience. The FCSV will continue to arrange similar activities in a bid to provide better protective measures and support services for sexual violence victims.
