The first phase of the Cross-disciplined Forces Training Programme for Ethnic Minority Youth was organised by the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) with the support of other disciplined forces from July 28 to 30. About 100 participants aged between nine and 25 took part in a training camp at JPC@Pat Heung and visited training facilities of disciplined forces.

The programme was one of the initiatives in the Chief Executive's 2017 Policy Address. It aimed to help young ethnic minorities integrate into society and cultivate positive values.

The programme offered a variety of activities, including disciplinary, physical and team-building training. Representatives of various disciplined forces explained to the participants the scope of their work and the entry requirements for different disciplinary posts to help them plan their career paths. Some of the disciplinary representatives were ethnic minorities and they encouraged fellow participants to strive for their goals. In addition, the participants visited the Police College and the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy to learn about recruits' training activities and physical fitness tests.

Other activities included ice-breaking games, a bubble football competition, an indoor rowing contest as well as first-aid training offered by the Auxiliary Medical Service. The PPRB also arranged a variety of Halal food to cater for the needs of some participants.

The closing ceremony of the programme was held at the Police College on July 30, with Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong as the officiating guest. Representatives of various disciplined forces and ethnic minority leaders were invited to witness the successful conclusion of the programme. All the ethnic minority participants received certificates and six of them were awarded the Best Participants for their outstanding performance. The programme will be organised twice a year and the second phase will be held in December.
