Over 200 contestants took part in the Police Taekwondo Club's Annual Competition at the Police Sports and Recreation Club (PSRC) on August 12. Black belt and colour belt athletes competed in Kyorugi (free sparring) and Poomsae (pattern) events. Hong Kong Greatview Taekwondo Club, China Greatview Taekwondo and Hong Kong Taekwondo Chun Mo Kwan were invited to join the competition.


Representatives of the Police Taekwondo Club achieved remarkable results in different events. Police Constable Tang Kit-ying and member of Hong Kong Taekwondo Team Ms Cheung Yee-ching, who are core members of the club, clinched the championship in Women Black Belt under 49 kilogrammes division and under 51 kilogrammes division respectively. On the other hand, a five-year-old member of the club, Mr Ng Yau, coached by his father, competed in the first-ever Kyorugi in his life. Being the youngest athlete in the competition, his high level of perseverance displayed in the game earned a big round of applause from the spectators.


Headmaster of the Police Taekwondo Club Mr Hon Wung-lurk praised all athletes for their impressive performance and demonstration of the indomitable spirit of Taekwondo. The club welcomes all officers, civilian staff and their relatives to join its training sessions. Details are as follows:
