At the invitation of the Co-ordination Office of the State Council's Joint Conference on Combating Counterfeit Currency, two anti-counterfeit experts of Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB), Chief Inspector Tang Shun-yan and Senior Inspector Tse Ka-lun went to Hangzhou from September 12 to 15 to participate in a seminar about detecting fake banknotes.

The two experts hosted a training session on combating counterfeit Hong Kong banknotes. On the other hand, an expert from the European Central Bank conducted another session to share knowledge of detecting counterfeit Euro banknotes.

Two hundred participants attended the seminar. They included senior anti-counterfeit officers from various branches of the People's Bank of China, practitioners from banks and financial institutions in different provinces and municipalities, and representatives from the Economic Crime Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security.

The seminar enhanced the participants' knowledge of how to identify the authenticity of Hong Kong and Euro banknotes. It also provided a platform for anti-counterfeit experts to strengthen co-operation with Mainland banking practitioners in combating counterfeit currencies.
