About 250 members of the Police Civilian Staff Club (PCSC) attended the Golden Jubilee Dinner at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on September 14 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the PCSC.

The PCSC was established in 1968 to promote sports, social and recreational activities and foster friendship among members. It now has a membership of about 6 700, including serving, retired and transferred civilian staff as well as police officers.

Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Dinner, Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Ms Joyce Tam said members of the PCSC come from over 50 civilian grades in the Force. The PCSC would continue to uphold its objectives and organise diversified activities to meet members' needs. Ms Tam also thanked civilian staff for their support to frontline police officers. A video was shown to let the participants know more about the history of the PCSC.

Other guests at the dinner were Police Civil Secretary Mr Leung Ho-yin, Chief Superintendent (Planning and Development) Ho Wai-hong, Chairman of the Junior Police Officers' Association Lam Chi-wai, and representatives from the Association of Police Translators, the Hong Kong Traffic Wardens Union, the HKSAR Government Traffic Wardens General Union, the Hong Kong Police Force Model Scale I Staff Association and the Hong Kong Police Force Civilian Officers' Union.

To encourage civilian staff to take part in volunteer services, the PCSC volunteer team was established in 2003 and has a current membership of more than 400. Over 10 000 hours of volunteer service were delivered per annum in recent years. Ms Tam and Mr Leung presented a number of volunteer service awards and certificates, including golden jubilee awards to four members with the longest years of volunteer service and the highest volunteer service hours.

Meanwhile, the 2018-19 General Committee of the PCSC had been elected earlier this year. The committee comprises the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and 23 members.
