Director of Police College Lau Chi-wai presented a Certificate of Appointment to a new Honorary Visiting Fellow, Dr Gregory Vecchi, on November 5.


Dr Vecchi is the former Chief of the Behavioral Science Unit of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as well as a retired crisis and hostage negotiator of the FBI. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Missouri Western State University. His expertise covers forensic behavioral science, crisis and hostage negotiation, and conflict resolution.


The Psychological Services Group invited Dr Vecchi to attend a symposium on "Applying Psychology to Criminal Investigation" on November 7 and 8 to share his criminal investigation experience in the FBI.


The Honorary Visiting Fellows Scheme is established by the Police College to consolidate its international status, and further promote the Force as an excellent training organisation. Dr Vecchi is the second Honorary Visiting Fellow appointed by the Police College.
