Over three Saturdays running from October 27 to November 10, Marine Outer Waters District (MOWDIST) opened its doors to the families of officers working in the District so that they could understand more about the work of Marine officers.

Every officer was given four tickets to invite family members to the Ma Liu Shui Marine Police Base. Apart from going on board a police launch, the participants visited stalls on face painting, rope throwing, balloon twisting and marine safety and learned a few tricks from Police Magic Club. In addition, Small Boat Division showcased its equipment while the Police Band, Police Dog Unit and Auxiliary Police Band staged excellent performances. A complimentary lunch and snacks were also served to the participants.

MOWDIST Commander Angus Pullinger said, "The logic was quite simple. We decided to pool the very generous welfare grant received this year and by using one location we take advantage of economies of scale so that more people could enjoy more things."

In the end some 2 000 officers and family members joined the family days. Station Sergeant Ng Man-ho commented, "It's been a great day, this is the first time in my career I have been able to take my family on a police launch and show them my police life. I'm very proud." The organising committee would very much like to thank the participating units for their support in making the family days so enjoyable for officers' families.
