The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon West (KW), in collaboration with the Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee (KWYCC), staged a "Kowloon West Ethnic Harmony No Drugs No Crime Carnival 2018" at Cheung Sha Wan Playground on December 9. The event aimed to bring people from different cultural backgrounds together to promote racial harmony as well as beat drugs and fight crime messages.


KW Regional Commander Cheuk Hau-yip officiated at the opening ceremony and was accompanied by District Commanders in KW, Chairman of KWYCC Mr Chan Kin-ping and KWYCC presidents.


The carnival featured a display of police vehicles by the Police Tactical Unit, Traffic KW and Central Police Station, and Robotcop by the Crime Prevention Bureau. Game booths were also set up by District Fight Crime Committees of Sham Shui Po and Yau Tsim Mong; Junior Police Call of KW; The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (Youth Action Network); the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau; The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong; The Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers; the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Kowloon West Region); the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong; and KW Juvenile Protection Section.


In addition, Hong Kong Police Band and Dominic Savio Kindergarten gave a joint foot-drill performance while a magician put on a magic show. Children had a chance to try on mini police uniforms and ride on mini police electric cars while Ambition M & B Volunteer Team distributed twisted balloons to the participants. The Anti-Deception Coordination Centre was also invited to spread scam prevention messages.
