The Junior Police Call (JPC) held the JPC E-sports Fun Day at JPC@Pat Heung on February 16, attracting the participation of about 600 JPC members and youths.

With the theme of "Connect to Live the Dream @ JPC E-sports", the fun day featured the Regional JPC E-sports Invitational Competition, E-sports introduction and demonstration, virtual reality games, a financial management workshop, a plastic brick model workshop, abseiling, physical training and a fingerprint workshop. Students of the Hong Chi Association were invited to make egg waffles for the participants.

In addition to a team from the Hong Kong Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied Association (HKPHAB), the E-sports Invitational Competition attracted JPC representatives from schools in all regions, including the Hong Kong Wah Yan College from Hong Kong Island (HKI), the Po Leung Kuk Ho Yuk Ching (1984) College from Kowloon East, the Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School from Kowloon West, the Pak Kau College from New Territories North (NTN), the St Francis Xavier's School (Tsuen Wan) from New Territories South and the Buddhist Wai Yan Memorial College from Marine Region. The championship went to the HKPHAB while HKI captured the first runner-up title and NTN won the second runner-up place.

The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology Dr David Chung, Director of JPC E-sports Cadre Mr Eric Yeung, President of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation Mr Kenneth Fok as well as Chief Superintendent Tse Chun-chung and Senior Superintendent (Community Relations) Yu Hoi-kwan of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB). A JPC E-sports team played a demonstration game against a Senior Police Call E-sports team in the ceremony to promote inter-generational integration.

In February last year, a pilot JPC E-sports programme was launched to provide an additional platform for the PPRB to communicate with young people and to develop the participants as young leaders and fight crime partners. After the establishment of the JPC E-sports cadre, the PPRB and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of The University of Hong Kong co-organised a course titled "Foundation Certificate in E-sports Science" in August, which is equivalent to Level Two of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. Apart from teaching the knowledge of E-sports, the course incorporates elements of the JPC Scheme such as leadership, management and communication. Meanwhile, four members of the JPC E-sports cadre performed volunteer work in the e-sports demonstration event in August at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. During the volunteering period, the JPC cadre members not only saw world-class E-sports players on the field, but also gained a better understanding of the E-sports industry.

The JPC E-sports Cadre has so far recruited 180 members. A new round of recruitment activities has been launched. Interested JPC members are welcome to join.
