Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Mak Chin-ho appointed Superintendent (SP) Li Kam-piu to succeed retiring SP Chik Ming-yam as the Officer Commanding of the Force Escort Group (OC FEG). Mr Mak presented a letter of appointment to Mr Li as well as a letter of appreciation to Mr Chik at the Police Headquarters on January 25.

Mr Li, who also took over the Enforcement and Control Division in Traffic New Territories South from Mr Chik, is familiar with FEG duties. He served as a team leader of the FEG in 1997 and 1998 and worked closely with the FEG in various operational posts in the subsequent years. With Mr Li's ample traffic and operational experience, he is the most suitable candidate for the post of OC FEG.

Mr Chik had served in the Force for 37 years, including 19 years of service in the FEG. Mr Mak thanked Mr Chik for his contribution as OC FEG in the past two years, adding that his tenure enhanced the Group's professionalism and reputation. Mr Mak also wished Mr Chik a happy retirement.

The FEG, one of the Force's Secondary Duty Cadres, comprises over 60 officers from the five regional traffic formations. It provides motorcade escort to all special vehicle movements, including escort services for VIP visits, high-risk prisoner escorts and secure movement of high-value cargo.
