Central District (CDIST) and the Lan Kwai Fong Association (LKFA) jointly held the "Lan Kwai Fong Guardian Charter – Award Presentation and Annual Ceremony 2019" on February 26 to commend local outlets and their employees for assisting the Police in preventing and combating crime over the year.

Acting CDIST Commander Tse Ming-yeung and Chairman of the LKFA Dr Allan Zeman addressed the ceremony. Mr Tse said that over 40 outlets have joined the Charter since its inception in February last year. The outlets and their employees have been actively taking preventive measures against crime and making reports to the Police. The local community's support, coupled with corresponding actions of the Police, led to an increase in the detection rate of crimes at Lan Kwai Fong. CDIST will maintain close co-operation with the stakeholders and officers will continue to step up law enforcement actions to fight against alcohol-fuelled violence and "quick cash" crimes to make Lan Kwai Fong a safe and orderly tourist spot.

Meanwhile, a short video was shown to highlight the effectiveness of the crime prevention measures as well as the progress of the Charter. Dr Zeman and Vice Chairman of the LKFA Mr Jonathan Zeman presented commendation certificates to the outlets and employees. Also attending the ceremony were Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island Kwok Pak-chung, member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council Mr Tommy Cheung, District Officer (Central and Western District) Mrs Susanne Wong, Vice Chairman of the Central and Western District Council Mr Chan Hok-fung, and Vice Chairman Mr Li Chun-man and members of the Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee.
