The Junior Police Officers Division (JPO Division) of the Personnel Wing hosted the second thematic seminar, titled "Public Order Policing in Future", for 130 mentors and mentees of the Development Programme for Junior Officers with Potential at the Police Sports and Recreation Centre on February 26. The seminar aimed to develop the officers' analytical capabilities and increase their understanding of the role of the police in public events.

In the first part of the seminar, Chief Inspector of the Exercise and Audit Division of the Major Incidents Bureau Ko Chung-ying explained the Operational Decision Model for handling unforeseeable events, and highlighted the importance of "knowledge" and "courage" in making decisions. Then Senior Superintendent of the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau Li Kwai-wah gave an in-depth sharing on police powers and challenges in public events from a practical perspective. He inspired the participants to assess situations and threats with a comprehensive and strategic mindset.

In the second part of the seminar, the participants conducted a group discussion about the application of these concepts in different scenarios. Furthermore, the participants answered questions in a mock interview and Chief Inspector of the JPO Division Lee Wai-see provided feedback to broaden their mindsets and increase their confidence in presentation.

The next thematic seminar will be held in early May for members of the Development Programme. Interested officers are welcome to join. For enquiries, please contact Training and Staff Relations Officers or the JPO Division on 2860-2050.
